As an Ascended, Aatrox was known as an incredibly noble warrior who was loyal to the Shuriman Empire as he didn't hesitate to aid his fellow Ascended during the Icathian Uprising. After facing the horrors of the Void, Aatrox's mind was horribly scarred and he was forever changed by what he faced during the war, seemingly losing his noble nature.
