Akashi

Akashi is a repair ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN), and the only one specifically designed as a repair ship from the beginning. A vital component of the IJN, Akashi performed over 40% of the repairs of the entire Combined Fleet while based in Truk. This was possible from the 17 factories within the ship, 5 cranes on her, and a crew of which over half were engineers or technicians. During the course of the war, she was able to repair the capital ships Yamato and Shoukaku.
