Alyx Vance

Alyx Vance is a major character in Half-Life 2, and the heroine in Half-Life Alyx. As a young child, Alyx lived in the Black Mesa dormitories with her mother and father, however was forced to escape with her father after the facility suffered severe structural damage and hostile aliens began killing the personnel. Alyx's mother was killed during the incident. Alyx grew up during the Combine occupation of Earth. When she reached adulthood, she joined the resistance movement against the Combine. Whilst working with the resistance, she rescues Gordon Freeman after he is ambushed by civil protection. Alyx and Gordon go on to help each other in the fight against the Combine. Alyx can sometimes be quite cheerful despite the circumstances, occasionally cracking jokes, like calling a zombified Combine soldier a 'Zombine'. It's implied that Alyx has romantic feelings for Gordon, such as immediately embracing him after he's freed from under a pile of rubble.
