Touko Aozaki

Touko Aozaki is the older sister of Aoko Aozaki. She is a principal character in Kara no Kyoukai, the main antagonist of Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, and a supporting character in Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files. Touko looks like a woman in her late twenties, even when she is decades older. Lord El-Melloi II attributes this phenomenon to her being "fixed into place." Despite her aversion to her name due to its association with the color orange, she consistently sports an orange-colored accessory. She is a heavy smoker, preferring the rare brand Dragon Smoke despite their bad taste, despite their unfavorable taste, and is often seen with a cigarette between her lips. She frequently employs these cigarettes to inscribe her runes in the air. According to Aoko, Touko "looks like an educated mom with spectacles and a cigarette". She tended to sever ties with people, recognizing that she had spent too much time with Mikiya, Shiki, and Azaka. Touko displays dual personalities, adapting her demeanor based on her perception of the situation. When speaking with Mikiya on the phone, she adopts a serious tone to convey importance. In person, she appears affable and friendly. Her personality shifts are associated with her glasses: while wearing them, she exudes a calm, kind, objective, and ruthless demeanor. Removing them reveals a cruel, emotional, and subjective side. It remains uncertain, even to herself, which persona represents the true Touko, but regardless of her emotional disposition, she fundamentally aligns with romanticism. The nature of her personality when wearing sunglasses remains undisclosed, although it seems she adopts an eccentric character with an inexplicable verbal tic. Touko holds the belief that certifications are not definitive proof of capability; seeing them as merely pieces of paper. Instead, she values skills as the true measure of competence, rendering licenses and certifications unnecessary. She possesses qualifications in Medical Treatment, Construction, Business, and Information Gathering. Touko possesses a keen interest in novelty, frequently engaging in tinkering with items that captivate her. She can also be called a speed demon when working. In her underground garage, she has four cars, two motorcycles, and an engine propeller plane. She is known for her impulsiveness in making purchases, often acquiring magical items from "Dark Amazon" without regard for financial consequences, leading to occasional periods of financial hardship. For example, she bought a Ouija BoardWP for her office solely based on its aesthetic appeal. On occasion, she struggles to provide salaries for her staff due to her spending habits. To compensate Shiki for her work, Touko often upgrades her artificial arm or offers rare knives to assuage her dissatisfaction. Touko vehemently despises being referred to as "Scarred Red", as it reminds her that although she wanted the colored title of Blue similar to her family name, she instead ended up with the title Red. This nickname insinuates that her given name of "orange" is merely a tainted variation of her Red title, a pure primary color. She has established a personal rule that anyone who addresses her by this nickname is subject to a death sentence.
