Appearance Clerivan is a rather tall young man with long blond hair that he keeps in a low ponytail. He wears large, black-rimmed glasses, and is usually seen wearing neat, clean sets of robes. History He is Rulac's right-hand man, who in the first timeline took charge of the Lombardi family's workload for a few years, but ultimately left after the head of the family changed. Second Timeline When the head of Lombardi noticed Tia's talents, he sent Clerivan to evaluate Florentia.[1] Clerivan doubted that Florentia would willingly read and understand the book, the People of the South, she barrowed from the library and said as much to Rulac when he asked about it.[2] Rulac then asked him to add her to his class to confirm her talents. At first he thought that the Head of Lombardi must be mistaken, but agreed under the condition that if he didn't see her fit, he won't have her in his class. His first meeting with Florentia left him shocked, she acted way beyond her age and had perfect manners when addressing his greeting. When he asked her about the book she gave him the right answers, she even knew information about the book he had no idea about. He realized his biased and decided to add her to his class. Clerivan confirmed Rulac's words and told him that he understands why he had taken an interest in Tia. And that after testing Tia, he learned that nobody around her knew of her unusual intelligence, that even her father, Gallahan, was surprised about her qualification. He speculates that Tia purposefully hid her skills the whole time. They decide to continue observing her.[3] When Viese brings over the Dyurak Guild for negations on the distribution of textiles and an loan from the Lombardi bank, Clerivan instantly becomes suspicion of the whole ordeal. He gets visibly annoyed at the cocky, bold nature Viese and the merchant have. Croyton swears on his family's name that he will keep everythiing under control and that they have nothing to worry about. Clerivan recognizes that Croyton comes from the Empress's family but still thinks that the merchant is too bold in his actions. He realizes that unless you want to make the Imperial family out to be the villains, how would the Lombardi even collect the money from them. In the end, it would mean that the funding and hard work will be done by the Lombardi, while the Guild will bask in all the benefits. He doesn't speak out just yet, he knows the head of Lombardi probably knows this as well. Should the business fail, then the Lombardi would have to bear the full responsibility for the aftermath. He thought that there was no way the Patriarch will accept this lousy proposal. To his surprise, Rulac accepts and instructs Viese to over look the process without mistakes. He begins to protest, but Viese jumps in and promises to be trustworthy. The merchant and Viese leave to discuss further details. This time Clerivan jumps in and stops them, he asks them to reconsider and to examine the logistics of this matter. He reminds that there is proper way to conduct business, and that they can't just buy something without properly examining the imported goods. Rulac agrees with Clerivan and asks Croyton if that is ok with him. He happens to have some samples with him in the capital and promises to bring them with him next time. Clerivan is displeased with Viese's continues apologies to the merchant who came to borrow the Lombardi's assistance and money, he doesn't understand how illogical the son of the patriarch like Rulac is. When Viese and the merchant leave, Clerivan starts to question Rulac's decisions and reason, he begs him to reconsider. Rulac asks him - if his daughter Shananet would have brought Rulac this same idea, how would Clerivan react. Clerivan tells him that Shananet wouldn't even had brought up this ridiculous idea in the first place. Rulac agrees, but still wonders what his son is capable of. He asks Clerivan to view this as a test for his son.[4]
