The De Lisle carbine, also called the 'De Lisle Commando carbine', was an experimental British firearm used during World War II. Its most prominent feature is its large integrated suppressor, which combined with its use of a subsonic cartridge made it incredibly quiet in action, possibly being one of the most silent firearms ever developed. The weapon was designed as a private venture by William Godfray de Lisle, an engineer who worked for the British Air Ministry.
