Gentaro Yumeno Husbando

Gentaro Yumeno, a.k.a. Phantom, is a novel author and the second member of Fling Posse. Gentaro has shaggy brown hair and green/purple eyes. Gentaro is seen as having ‘outdated fashion’. He wears a white kosode and black undershirt, and grey hakama with a black obi and yellow cord. Over this he wears a black cape with a patterned purple underside, fastened with the Fling Posse gold star pin and chain. He wears black lace-up boots. Gentaro’s Hypnosis Mic looks like a candlestick telephone. His speakers take the form of red pedestal lanterns with omikuji flying around. Gentaro is an enigmatic character, lying and omitting information to put distance between himself and the people around him. He chooses his words very carefully and has excellent observational skills. He is often considered unconventional to others, which is only augmented by his old fashioned manner of speech and clothing. Despite these distinctive qualities, he seemingly hates attention. He is sensitive to others emotions, but his somewhat inquisitive nature can land him in hot water, such as being threatened when he pried too much regarding Ramuda’s past. He has a tendency of not letting an issue go, if he believes the person involved will be hurt without intervention, even if they have requested for him to do so. This behaviour is due to Gentaro’s deep care for those he holds dear, despite him never directly communicating it. He keeps his distance, yet is always there when his friends are in need. This quiet constant care for the other members of Fling Posse balances out how intense the other two members can be. Gentaro often makes dry or exasperated comments on his surroundings, pairing them with a polite and distant manner of speech. He often makes poetic statements yet, despite being a writer who would be expected to see an idealised version of the world, he is very realistic and level headed. It has been hinted that he actually finds the world around him boring and his extravagant words don’t reflect his true feelings. While he attempts to maintain an eerie calmness, he occasionally lets his real emotions seep through. He is not above swearing or violence, as shown when he spits an ill-mannered insult at Hifumi before Fling Posse’s first official rap battle and behaved in an aggressive manner after his clothing was made fun of. Gentaro’s personality underneath the lies is actually rather awkward. He is socially avoidant, has an anxious side, and does not get along with many people. His behaviour is shown to be a protective shield from the world around him, believing that, as long as he is telling lies and half truths, he cannot be hurt by others. This distance is a safety blanket of sorts for him, but it means he rarely gets close to others. He does not have much energy, usually just tagging along with Ramuda and Dice’s antics out of interest and concern for their safety, instead of actually wanting to take part. Gentaro tends to be the grounding force of Fling Posse, preventing Ramuda and Dice from behaving in a self destructive manner. His adoration for his friends bleeds through into his writing, where he often references them in his stories. Despite his aloof behaviour towards them, he goes as far as to sacrifice important documents for the sake of their safety, clearly displaying how important they are to him.
