Griff, also known as the Regretful Young Soldier, is a memory character in NieR Reincarnation first introduced in The Girl and the Monster's Ch 9: Flaming Sands (A Cold and Hollow Silence). He leads a military unit as their captain, but is often called cowardly by his subordinates due to his overly cautious orders during combat, earning him the unwanted nickname "Captain Craven".
