Description

Roughly a year ago, Harumi joined the small local promotion Pacific Women's Pro-Wrestling as a rookie, becoming a junior of Reiko Kanamori and Matsuri Gono, and a peer of Mami Sawanobori. To date, she has no significant accomplishments and performs to mostly empty seats. So she is surprised when Pacific founder Blade Uehara decides to deploy her abroad, and even lets her choose which country. Based on what she has heard from Uehara about various countries' wrestling cultures, Harumi chooses Mexico. Upon arrival, she encounters Janice Claire of USWW for the first time. She also runs into acquaintance Cuty Kanai of New Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling also on deployment, with whom she forms a tag team for a while. But whereas Kanai (known to be one of New Japan's worst wrestlers) is able to leave early after winning the IWWF Junior Champion title, Harumi stays longer yet still leaves empty-handed. Her deployment concludes with her being squashed by Chocho Caras of AAC in an exhibition match, further sinking her already low self-confidence. Returning to Japan, Uehara greets her warmly, and puts her in a match against Kanamori (whom she defeats) to demonstrate her improvement as a result of her travels. But Harumi senses that Uehara is hiding something. One day, when she arrives at the Pacific headquarters and finds only Uehara present and all equipment (including the ring) removed. Uehara reveals that Pacific has run out of money and must shut down, and that all the other members have left for other promotions. Harumi insists that she will follow Uehara wherever she goes. Uehara tells Harumi that she possesses submerged potential and can become a champion if only she stops psychologically sabotaging herself with negativity. Harumi promises to try. Uehara then announces that they will crash New Japan "because that is the place to find opponents worthy of us!" They attend a New Japan show as spectators, and after Uehara is recognized, she announces in front of the crowds that she and Harumi have their sights set on the IWWF Tag Team Champions title currently held by Megumi Muto and Chigusa Yuki. Instantly, Harumi becomes the new media sensation as Uehara's mysterious disciple. First, Harumi and Uehara defeat Riyu Kikuchi and Rei Tomizawa for the IWWF Asia Tag Team Champions title. Following this match, New Japan leader Mighty Yukiko (still on crutches from her previous injury) approaches Harumi offering to sign her with New Japan, but Harumi turns down the offer out of loyalty to Uehara. Next, Harumi defeats Kikuchi in a singles match, dispelling speculation that Uehara carried her to victory in the previous tag match. Ringside commentator Risako Sakuma remarks that now is where things really begin to get interesting. Adding to the drama, Kikuchi emotionally announces her retirement after the match is over, revealing that her neck has been eroding for some time and she has been defying doctors' orders by continuing to wrestle, but stating that having such a respectable last opponent as Harumi has satisfied her. Uehara advises Harumi to reconsider accepting Yukiko's offer, but Harumi interprets this as Uehara trying to get rid of her, and runs off. Risako finds Harumi crying alone, and talks to her. Harumi expresses desire to take time off abroad, and Risako offers to freeze her status so that she can pick up where she left off when she returns at her own pace. In Canada, Harumi runs into Janice again and they hang out together. One day, Janice informs Harumi that a new promotion called Far East Women's Pro-Wrestling has been founded by Uehara, and convinces her that Uehara must be waiting for Harumi. Returning to Japan and arriving at the Far East headquarters, Harumi reconciles with Uehara and joins Far East. (Uehara jokes about Far East surely being the only promotion that owns just one locker!) Soon, Uehara tells Harumi that it is time to finish what they started. Risako has arranged an eight-spot "Strongest Tag League" battle, with the last spot given to Far East. Winning this, Harumi and Uehara acquire the right to a title match against Muto and Chigusa. The teacher-and-disciple tag team keep their original promise of defeating New Japan's best tag team to win the IWWF Tag Team Champions title, and respect is gained all round for a clean match. Uehara plans a match between Harumi and Chocho for the WWA Heavyweight Champion title, but before it can be arranged, news arrives that Chocho has lost the title to Janice. In the end, it is by defeating Janice that Harumi wins her first singles title. As Janice congratulates Harumi, Harumi credits Uehara for taking her this far, yet Uehara says that she added nothing to Harumi, but only helped her true self emerge from within.
