Isaac Ray Pelham Westcott was the main antagonist of the Date A Live series who was first introduced in Volume 5. He was the director of Deus Ex Machina Industries. Westcott is a tall man often seen wearing a formal jet black suit. His hair is dark ash blond, and he has a pair of sharp eyes as if a knife was used to cut slits on his face. The color of his eyes are dull blue and give off a lifeless look that is only strengthened when complemented by his extremely pale skin. Despite looking 30 years old, Origami states that he gave off the impression of being an experienced veteran. He is often noted to emanate a foreign, disturbing presence to those who encounter him. Ever since he was a child, Westcott has always had a morbid fascination with death and derived a sadistic sense of pleasure from watching the suffering of others. During his childhood, he first noticed this when burying his pet dog. When his own mother died, he felt a bizarre sense of delight watching the mournful faces at her funeral. However, he was also clever enough to understand that such feelings would isolate himself in his hometown, so he resolved to hide these feelings. After his hometown was burned to the ground, he lost this social restraint holding himself back and chose to relish rampantly in his sadistic tendencies. Westcott is also quite masochistic, deriving pleasure from his own suffering just as much as delivering pain to others. He can mourn the deaths of his loved ones while also enjoying his ability to feel such sadness in the first place. While not outright suicidal, he places little importance on self-preservation and expresses interest in the experience of death. While capable of displaying a genuine air of affection towards his childhood friends, Westcott otherwise sees any other person, including his own subordinates, as disposable tools. Even the DEM Wizards, who are completely loyal to him, are seen by him as only valuable pawns for his interests and goals. To that end, Westcott is extremely manipulative. As seen with both Origami and Artemisia respectively, he is either willing to tempt with power or outright brainwash strong soldiers into his ranks. To members of his company, he often displays a superficial veil of kindness that conceals his utter lack of care for his subordinates. He has shown to be arrogant, selfish, and a person that has an uncanny mind or, in other words, a “cruel” businessman with ruthless ambition. One instance of his cruelty was shown when he was considering how to draw out Tohka's natural form through various types of cruel physical, mental, emotional, and even sexual tortures that only the most twisted of individuals could think of. In his cruelty, he particularly favors offering false hope to his victims before crushing it entirely. For instance, this was shown when he let Nia escape so she could regain her hope in humanity, just so that he could turn her hope into despair and make her assume her Inverse Form. Likewise, he seemingly gave his board of directors a chance to vote him out of his position before having Ellen violently quell their dissent. Outwardly, Westcott claims that his wish for the creation of a new world using <Deus>'s power was sparked from a desire against humanity for destroying his hometown. However, that motivation was merely a means to an end in convincing his childhood friends to follow him in his deranged goals. In fact, during the destruction of his hometown, he internally even thanked the perpetrators, as they gave him the perfect excuse to now act on his unfettered desires. Regardless, Shido believes that Westcott's sadism would bring about hell on Earth if he ever succeeded in his goal. Westcott's mindset has been described as one not just cruel or brutal, but rather as something that could only be classified as abnormal. However, during his confrontation with Shido Itsuka, he retorts that he is in fact very ordinary in the sense that he is merely doing everything in his power for the sake of his goals. What separates himself from others is his utter lack of the ethics and morals that would typically restrain a person when pursuing their wishes. At times, Westcott can also be incredibly childish. Both Ellen and Karen admit that his actions with his newly acquired Demon King <Beelzebub> resemble a mischievous kid playing with a new toy.
