Ito Hikiotani

Ito Hikiotani is one of the leading female characters in Punchline Anime. Ito appears to be a shut-in than a social butterfly, seems to suffer from social anxiety disorder. This is an anxiety disorder in which someone experiences high amounts of fear in response to social situations, to the point where it impairs their ability to maintain a normal daily life. Often she is shown trying to avoid the others in Korai House. She can be a bit blunt and rude at times. However, when taking care of Muhi, it is shown that Ito can be extremely caring and can even be a bit motherly. She can seem tsundere at times, as she can be harsh to others, but she is essentially just out-of-touch. She is later shown that she is afraid of making friends, and finds it hard to do so ever since she dropped out of school. It is revealed that Ito isn't a shy nor a loner person; she was showing everyone that personality rather than the truth. She was afraid of telling everyone about her past, thus, avoiding others as she can. Ito appears to admire Mikatan for being a hero, and is even somewhat taken aback when Mikatan calls Ito her friend. This implies that Ito has self confidence issues, and believes that people will dislike her, as what she experienced when she was bullied in school, particularly a popular idol like Mikatan. The events that occurred leading up to, and on, the New Years Eve when the asteroid was destroyed, seemed to have a drastically positive effect on Ito's personality. She appears to be attending school again along with Mikatan, showing that she feels confident enough to face up to the bullies, and supported by her friends. She also appears to be gaining confidence with social situations, as she joined the others on various social outings, including a picnic, attending a Seas May performance. She is also shown having gone swimming at a public pool in a bikini, and even standing up to some of the bullies while there. This also displays a major boost in her self-confidence, and her conquering over her past experiences.
