Kaede is the founder of the Tengu tribe and the mother of Momiji. Kaede is a large, beautiful, canine-eared woman with waist-length hair. Her attire consists of a yukata with dark geometric patterns. Kaede, as the elder of the Tengu, is a strong-willed and graceful person. As a mother, she is loving and slightly playful, teasing her daughter in matters concerning romance. She preaches to Momiji that a good woman is one who "makes her sweetheart turn back toward her". Due to nearing the end of her lifespan, she worries greatly about the future of her daughter and urges her to find a partner.
