Karis was born to Ivan and an unknown mother roughly fourteen-to-fifteen years after the Golden Sun event. She was raised in the town of Kalay, where her father and others among the survivors from Vale live. Karis inherited Ivan's cleverness and gentle personality, which she is often cherished for, but is also considered a strong-willed and reliable individual.
