There's very little known about the origins of Abaddon. It is said that they are fallen angels created from some interaction between demons and angels, seeing as how they possess traits of both races. They are welcome among neither angels nor demons, so most choose to live in seclusion. So it is especially unusual that Lapis deliberately goes back and forth between worlds of angels and demons as a messenger despite these circumstances. However, that did not last long.
