Marianne

Marianne is the class's English teacher and peppers her speech with French phrases. The students nickname her "Goddess of Liberty" and, true to her name, she has a habit of taking "liberties" with school rules and social customs — like holding her class at the school's pool because of the heat, and even building on school property with her own funds. She is modeled after the Statue of Liberty.
