Marie is an innocent and child-like Mermaid Xenos living in the Water Capital in the dungeon. Though she is able to speak, her communication skills are lacking, giving off a sense that she is immature. When she first met Bell, she applauded his victory over a herd of monsters, despite not yet knowing he was friendly towards the Xenos.
