Miho Sumida

Miho Sumida (澄田 美穂, Sumida Miho) is a minor character in 5 Centimeters per Second. According to Japanese traditions, her married name must be Miho Nakamura (中村 美穂, Nakamura Miho). Miho is 8 years older than her younger sister Kanae. She attended a university in Shizuoka, where she got her driving liscene at nineteen. During her university years, she was in the surfing club, which inspired Kanae to become a surfer herself. After graduation, she quickly returned to the island, an act that earned her Kanae's admiration. She later teaches at Kanae's school, making her younger sister feel nervous. Miho once dated a man named Kobayashi who came to the island back with her, and even planned to marry him, but she eventually decided not to.
