Northampton

Northampton is the lead Northampton-class cruiser. She was laid down on 12 April 1928, launched on 5 September 1929 and commissioned on 17 May 1930. Originally, she was classified as a light cruiser because of her thin armor but later reclassified as a heavy cruiser because of her 8-inch guns. During World War II she served in the Pacific. She participated in major naval campaigns like the Battle of Midway or the Guadalcanal Operation, as well as smaller ones.
