Pariya Togonosh

Pariya Togonosh is a friend of Amir Halgal. Pariya is a teenager with long black hair, tied into several braids that reach all the way to her thighs and left hanging outside of her headdress. Her headdress is made out of an embroidered tubeteika, which she then wrapped with a long cloth that covers her back. Her outfits consist of a long plain tunic that almost reaches to her ankles, with pants that tapered towards the bottom (sharovars) and decorated with woven inkle (jiyak) on the fringe. Pariya wears a short-sleeved robe over her clothes, and it is usually much more intricately embroidered than the rest of her outfits. Because of her young age, her clothes are usually in shades of red, mixed with turquoise. For footwear, she wears boots with soft soles (makshi) which are then slipped into kavush, a pair of half-opened shoes with low heels. She wears a pair of earrings, several silver necklaces and bracelets on both of her wrists. Pariya is extremely frank and has no problem of freely speaking her mind. However as she grows older and slowly reaches a marriageable age, she finds her candid personality deters potential suitors who are often shocked by her unfiltered opinions. Her habit of speaking her mind is deemed as “too cheeky” by others, and sharing a desire to get married which is common among girls of her age during the era, she tries her hardest to hide her true personality in order to appeal for potential suitors. However, her attempts to be more quiet and demure typically backfire because she often overthinks and ends up blurting the wrong thing to say anyway. This consequently creates further misunderstanding among Pariya and the other young villagers, and thus leaving Pariya with very few female friends as well. In truth Pariya is actually a kind person and her honest words are never spoken out of malice, as shown by how she stood up for Amir when she thought the other villagers were making fun of her eventhough they were barely acquainted at that point in time. Once the other villagers overlook her awkward and stilted ways of speaking, they also notice this side of Pariya and start hanging out more with her. Physical-wise, Pariya is incredibly energetic, possessing great strength and health and enjoys carrying out tasks that involve physical labour. She in turn hates chores that are delicate and require patience, such as sewing. She believes this side of her is unlady-like, and tries to hide it whenever she can. When it comes to anything romantic and passionate, she can get easily flustered even when it doesn’t directly involve her, as shown by how she blushes when Amir professed her love for Karluk in front of her. Due to her father letting her play with clay when she was a child, Pariya grew up enjoying baking as she finds the consistency of dough is similar to clay. She is skilled in baking breads with beautiful designs that carry different meanings.
