Phil Husbando

Phil is a 4-year-old orphan who formerly resided at Grace Field House Plant 3. Phil is close friends with Sherry, who he is often seen around with, and Emma, who he greatly looks up to. Phil is, despite his young age, extremely observant and intelligent. He figured out something was off about the orphanage, and as so, he is asked by Emma to lead all the children four years and younger to stay back in the orphanage while all the children five and above make their escape. Along with Sherry, Carol, Eugene, Milly and Charlie, Phil now resides at a different plantation at Grace Field under the care of Yukko after Grace Field House Plant 3 was burnt down Phil is a young boy with tan skin and a bright, cat-resembling smile who is considered to be very cute by Emma. He has short, cropped dark brown hair and light blue eyes. He wears the standard orphanage uniform- a white shirt and trousers along with plain shoes. The number "34394" is tattooed across the left side of his neck. Phil is a very bright, cheerful and outspoken boy. He loves his family very much and gets along with particularly Emma, Sherry, and Carol. While he acts like a playful, fun-loving, and carefree young child his age who likes to play tag and hide-and-seek along with his siblings, Phil is extremely observant, smart and wise beyond his years. For example, he is one of the highest scorers in the orphanage despite his young age and he's the one who points out the Morse codes in the books to Emma. Additionally, he already suspected something was wrong with the orphanage, understands everything Emma tells him and what she expects from him once she and the older kids escape. He is able to hide his personal feelings and true motives very well. However, Phil starts becoming more mature, lonely and sad after Emma's and the others' escape and his transfer to the new farm. Although he always keeps up his cheerful personality and a smile on his lips, he is seen breaking down when he is on his own. The guilt of seeing his new siblings being shipped off and knowing the fate that awaits them takes a great toll on Phil. He compares it to how Ray must have felt. Although he misses Emma and the rest of his siblings dearly, he is shown to be very strong, determined and refuses to give up hope. He also becomes protective of his new siblings, and he takes it upon himself to help them.
