Proto Man

Proto Man, also known as Blues in Japan, is the first robot master created by Dr. Light and is considered to be the "older brother" of Mega Man and Roll. While he did exceed Dr. Light's expectations on multiple levels, it was discovered that there was a fatal problem with his energy core that would eventually lead to him no longer working. Dr. Light wanted to repair him, but Proto Man escaped before he could do so, fearing that he would lose his identity. He wandered the world until he was found by Dr. Wily collapsed and dying. Dr. Wily managed to temporarily repair him and converted him into a combat robot, giving him a shield to make up for his body's weaknesses, a helmet and a visor. He served Dr. Wily until his encounters with Mega Man in Mega Man 3, which made him realize his true nature and ended up rebelling against Dr. Wily.
