One of the most important festivals of Aimyhr is the Harvest Festival, celebrated in varying forms and capacities in each region. The legend of the Lunar Maiden originates from the South, and to this day remains the most enduring among the people of N'an Xin, the Great Southern Plateau. It is said that during autumn, a moon fairy descends to earth and walks among the people to partake in revelry. At season's end, she sheds her disguise and returns to the heavens as the celestial Lunar Maiden. She keeps watch over earthly affairs through the eyes of humans who have been charmed by her celestial rabbit companions. The human guise assumed by this fairy is that of a lively young girl. This child of autumn, named QiuTong in oral traditions, is said to be a familiar sight to the old villages—a testament to generations of seasonal visits. Accompanied by a rabble of rabbits, her joyous laughter and sweet personality evoke thanksgiving cheer. The wooden mallet she carries is used in the creation of traditional Southern sweets eaten during the Harvest Festival. The soft, white treat is a hit with both young and old alike, and its similarity to rabbits has earned the delicacy a nickname: "bunnytail." Its simple ingredients and ease of preparation also make it an essential snack for the hardworking villager during winter.
