Queen La is the malevolent and ruthless queen and sorceress of the lost city of Opar. She abducted a bunch of leopards and turned them humanoid, turning them into her Leopardman servants, soldiers, and bodyguards. Upon meeting Tarzan for the first time, La quickly begins to lust after the ape man, but quickly realizes that he has fallen in love with Jane. Jealous of Jane for having the man she desires, La plots to kill Jane and force Tarzan to become her husband.
