Shinonome Rei is one of the many "Star Children" raised alongside Hina by their enigmatic instructor. Her ultimate goal is to ensure that Hina becomes the "Final Star," even if it means sacrificing her own life. However, if Hina fails in this mission, Rei is prepared to seize the role for herself. Rei snuck backstage at Valkyria's inaugural event at Babel Tower. She attacked Tsukino Honoka, leaving her severely injured, and took her place in the main event with the goal of ruining the event and angering Hina. Realizing Rei's murderous intentions, Natsumi faked her defeat, leaving Rei unsatisfied and eager to destroy something else. Before she could act further, Hina interrupted from the stands, revealing Rei's true identity and exposing the truth to the entire audience. Hina then announced that she would face Rei at the next show's main event. Hina introduced Rei to Nozomi and explained some of the truth about the God Army and the "Star Children", making it clear that their fight will be a fight to the death, although Hina only wants to "subdue" Rei and not kill her. Before leaving, Rei asks Nozomi to pick out a nice outfit for her fight with Hina, since she wants to leave a beautiful corpse behind, even offering to pay for it, leaving Nozomi confused and scared. Rei is deeply devoted to Hina, harboring a fierce determination to help her succeed. She has a dark and unsettling presence, characterized by her lifeless eyes and broken smile. She loathes the idea of any other Star Child becoming the "Final Star" and is willing to go to extreme lengths to prevent that. Her ultimate goal is for Hina to become the "Final Star," but she is ready to take that spot if Hina fails.
