Rūko is a naturally kind girl, but is initially a loner, neither making friends nor feeling the need to. Though she doesn't look like it, she was traumatized by her parents' divorce. This was due to the way her father and mother were always fighting, despite supposedly being close, as it made Rūko not want to connect with anybody out of fear that she would end up getting hurt like her mother.
