SAR-21

5.56x45mm calibre bullpup assault rifle designed in Singapore, the name SAR 21 means Singapore Assault Rifle of the 21st century. Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) looked for a replacement service rifle for their M16S1 as early as the mid 80s, instead of procuring new rifles, Singaporean Ministry of Defence commissioned the designing of their own service rifles. Design finished in 1996, first revealed to the public in 1999, SAR 21 entered service with SAF and intent to phase M16S1 out of military service.
