Ushio Kofune

Ushio Kofune is a 17-year-old girl from Hitogashima who drowns trying to save a younger girl, Shiori, from the sea — never having told her childhood friend Shinpei that she loved him. Her death sets Shinpei's entire time-looping journey in motion, and her eventual return — first in body, then in memory — becomes the emotional center of the story that follows. Ushio is warm, open-hearted, and often too fearless for her own good — she rarely notices danger until it's already on top of her. Her bond with Shinpei runs deeper than either of them says out loud; she loves him, but guards the feeling rather than risk speaking it first.
