Yaya Nanto

Yaya Nanto is a supporting character in the Strawberry Panic! series. She is the best friend and roommate of Hikari Konohana, as well as a member of St. Spica's choir club. Yaya is a girl who stands at above average height with hip length black hair, short wispy bangs, and angular shaped amber colored eyes. Though Yaya is seen in both her school uniform and the choir uniform, she's also seen wearing casual and trendy clothes. Yaya is a tomboyish and somewhat forceful girl who also seems to look out for Hikari Konohana, the latter of which who she is also in love with. She often has to force herself to smile as she helps Hikari get closer to Amane, and could only watch them from afar. So far, she has tried to become closer with Hikari, but due to Hikari's intense infatuation with Amane Ōtori, Yaya is always shot down. Thus, leading her to become very depressed and reserved, leading her to avoid human contact for a duration of time. She is also shown to have a rebellious streak, as she sometimes goes against school rules or what is normally accepted. She tends to be very outspoken and enjoys criticizing other students she dislikes. However, when it comes to matters of romance, she seems to be very shy about her feelings, substituting words with actions, sometimes with adverse results. Especially when Hikari talks about her feelings for Amane in front of her. She also has a penchant for teasing people. Also, she rather dislikes first year students — such as Tsubomi Okuwaka — because they are noisy and annoying; at least for a time and it is implied that she starts thinking more of Tsubomi at the very end of the series.
