Synopsis

It has been over half a century since the last great war... Japan's wartime military psionic research proliferated throughout the criminal underworld during the chaotic postwar period. Countless girls were turned into guinea pigs and dissected in order to elucidate the mechanics of paranormal abilities, which are mainly manifested by the cerebral activities of adolescent girls, and exploit them for evil. The paranormal ability research & development institute, which was established with the financial backing of the Shijouji Zaibatsu, which itself had avoided dismantlement under the protection of Allied Nations, shelters the girls and has created a path for them to use their abilities as a special agents who fight esper crime. That is Synapse, the esper crime special response team. Even guns and tanks are useless against the heavily armed criminal syndicates made up of enhanced humans, who have weapons that exploit paranormal abilities and have been surgically altered so that they themselves have become espers with enhanced physical faculties, but they are as powerless as infants before the might of the original esper girls, who have increase their power through training and equipment, so they were being busted one after another. It looked as if esper crime in Japan had dropped radically due to the work of Synapse, but actually the esper researchers have fled overseas. and they've honed their ating even the paranormal abilities of Synapse, which as at the cutting edge of esper technology, and now the warrior girls of Synapse are right in their crosshairs...
